It’s the end of an era folks!
Vienna Beef Factory first open the doors to its Bucktown location back in 1972 but now the legendary home of the Chicago-style hotdog will be officially closing it down on Friday, July 3. As its farewell gift, the Factory Store and Café is having a special Fourth of July that started on June 24 and will last all throughout the week until Friday, July 3.
“Throughout the years, we’ve loved seeing you all visit and take pictures at our Factory Store & Café on Damen. While we’re excited for the future, we’re sad to announce that July 3rd will be its last day of business. It truly is the end of an era,” said the store via Instagram.
The store will be replaced by Drive Shack, a $40 million riverfront driving range. The climate-controlled range will feature a restaurant, a bar and a public riverwalk and is set to open for Labor Day weekend 2021.
Sadly, the Vienna Beef museum which opened back in 2018 to celebrate the factory’s 125th anniversary won’t be returning. Despite the closing of their 2501 N. Damen Ave., Vienna Beef Factory will continue to serve its legendary hotdogs at its South Side location on 3847 S. Morgan St. So faithful Vienna Beef fans rest assured because they aren’t going anywhere: “Vienna Beef has been Chicago’s Hot Dog for over 127 years, and we are here to stay!”
