Millennium Garages & Lyric Opera Of Chicago are uniting for three special underground drive-through opera shows at the end of the month.
With the chaos and delirium of 2020 causing widespread closure and limitations, it has been what feels like years since we’ve been able to enjoy large-scale live performances of any kind. Though they may be on the horizon now that vaccines are in distribution and Chicago has surpassed 1.5 million doses, we are still a little way off. In the meantime, entertainment industries are attempting to innovate in any way they can and the latest collaboration between Millennium Garages and Lyric Opera of Chicago is something unlike anything that has come before, with or without the virus-induced limitations.
Taking place inside Chicago’s expansive Millennium Garages, a unique underground “Drive-through Opera” will resonate around America’s largest underground parking complex at the end of April. Millennium Lakeside Parking Garage is part of the over 3.8 million square feet space and will this month host a series of astounding spectacles by the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
We are thrilled to be teaming up with @LyricOpera in what will surely be an incredible and unique performance! #LyricAtMillennium https://t.co/yIAONd0zbb

Over 9,000 parking spaces will play host to three unmissable performances of Twilight: Gods on Wednesday, April 28th, Friday, 30th, and Sunday, May 2nd. Guests will be invited to drive from scene to scene as they unravel in the Millennium Lakeside Parking Garage all the while staying inside the safety of their own vehicles.
The urban setting will host a series of immersive live underground performances, thought-provoking videos, and cutting-edge installations brought to life by vocal artists, small instrumental groups, and actors. Guests are reminded that all cars must have a working radio to hear some of the performances which can be best experienced by tuning in to different channels throughout the experience.
