With many colleges and universities closing, U-Haul will offer 30 days of free storage for students returning home.
Many universities and colleges are closing their doors and sending students home, causing many to scramble for moving and storage solutions. U-Haul announced today that in an act of goodwill they will offer free 30-day self-storage units to college students amid coronavirus outbreak. The units will be available to students with a college ID while supply lasts.
Many Chicago universities and colleges like Loyola, Illinois, Southern Illinois, DePaul, Northwestern and Illinois State universities have decided to suspend in-person classes in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They’ve also closed dorms and sent students and staff home.
“We don’t know how every student is affected. But we know they are affected,” said U-Haul President John “JT” Taylor. “More and more universities are giving instructions to leave campus and go home. Students and their parents are in need of moving and storage solutions. We have the expertise and network to help, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”
This could hugely assist students and parents as classes move online. Students and parents can find the nearest UHAUL location by visiting the company’s website.
