There are few music venues that have been considered staples in Chicago—such as the Metro, Aragon Ballroom, House of Blues, and The Promontory. However, one of these is about to close its door for good.
The Promontory, which has been a fixture in Hyde Park neighborhood for more than a decade, will mark its final day of operation at the end of 2025.
The Promontory announces unexpected closure
In a Facebook post, The Promontory announced:
At the end of this year, we will turn off the lights at The Promontory for the last time.
While a specific reason for its unexpected closure was not provided, the venue expressed gratitude to its customers and staff for their love and support over the years.
You can still purchase tickets to the New Year’s Eve Party party, which will be its last event.
