Have you ever wanted to cannonball, belly flop, or dive into the Chicago River? Generally, it’s completely off-limits for obvious reasons; however, for one day only, you can.
100 people get a rare chance to cannonball into the Chicago River
Introducing the upcoming open water event: the Chicago River Swim – The Big Jump. This jump will take place on September 18, providing a chance to celebrate the river swim without the need to tackle the one- or two-mile distances of the main event, which is scheduled for September 20.
There are a limited number of just 100 public slots available for the jump, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must be 18 years of age or older, and the registration fee is $500.
For both the jump and the swim, water quality will be rigorously monitored, and the events will only proceed if testing confirms that river conditions meet strict safety requirements.
