TEDxTalks is coming to Chicago. The series, which has risen in popularity over the years, focuses on highlighting industry leaders, authors, and emerging ideas by showcasing thought-provoking presentations.
The unique platform will be held on September 10th at Harris Theater for Music and Dance, offering audience members a chance to engage in a series of one-of-a-kind unique shows, where every element tells Chicago’s expansive story.
TED was first started by Richard Saul Wurman, who co-founded it with Harry Marks in February 1984 as an informative conference. Since then, it has been held annually since 1990, moving into a viral YouTube series, and bringing information to the masses.
Now, that iconic stage is coming to Chicago to celebrate curiosity and learning. The festival will be filled with professionally coached TEDxTalks ranging from 12 to 15 minutes each along with exhilarating live performance art on and off the stage. This immersive experience explores creativity by showcasing pop-up art exhibitions and curated, locally-sourced food vendors.
TEDxChicago is an “independently organized, local nonprofit” that helps bring the TED vision to the city, aiming to promote connection and “ideas worth spreading”. They are 100% volunteer lead and run, working as a licensed member of the TEDx community.
The purpose of the TEDxTalks is to foster creativity and connection amongst the community, hinging on the idea that when people are engaged creatively, they will connect deeply with others. Within this connection, TEDxTalks hopes that we can “create a better future”.
