Chicago knows all about tarot — Visconti‑Sforza tarot cards have been studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the city was the first to host the World Tarot Congress almost 30 years ago. Now, Chi-Town welcomes a new chapter in that story: Tarot Sessions Chicago. It’s an authentic tarot reading experience with a real card reader on stage, four meticulously crafted cocktails that unfold alongside the reading, and live moments where a few hand‑picked volunteers let the cards speak for them.

What is Tarot Sessions?
Over the course of 75 minutes, Tarot Sessions moves through four sections, each guided by a major tarot archetype and matched with a crafted cocktail that echoes its energy. The tarot reader explains the card’s deep meaning for the entire crowd, then invites selected guests to step into the spotlight for a personalized reading. Not only do volunteers get their own reading, but the group enjoys fascinating teachings on the shrouded history and deep meanings behind the tarot.
Tarot: fate, fortune or free will
So, what exactly is tarot? What started as a 15th‑century card game in Italy gradually evolved into a fortune‑telling ritual. Today, a traditional tarot deck usually has 78 cards: 22 “Major Arcana” and 56 “Minor Arcana.” Major Arcana are the big archetypes you may already know, like The Fool, The Lovers, Death and The Sun, while Minor Arcana relate more to everyday life experiences. Once the cards are on the table, tarot becomes a kind of conversation: symbols, stories and patterns that open up space for insight, self‑reflection and maybe even a revelation.
