Popular gourmet taco spot Taqueria Chingón will close its doors on November 26th after four years in Bucktown. The restaurant announced the closure in a social media post shared on Friday.
The restaurant wrote that the decision to close was not an easy one, and attributed it to the rising cost of business, among other challenges.
Since its opening during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the taco joint has gained a dedicated local following and even earned a spot on the prestigious Michelin Guide.
The taqueria thanked their customers in the closure announcement, stating “It hasn’t been easy, we opened smack dab in the middle of COVID with a dream…you guys have supported us and lifted us up through thick and thin and we are eternally grateful.”
Fans of the taco spot need not worry though, Taqueria Chingón’s closure won’t be permanent. The restaurant assured fans that they plan to reopen at some point in the near future, likely at a new location.
“We are not done!! Trust us when we say we will be back, more Chingón than ever,” wrote the restaurant. “We just need to rest, retool, and find a space that will suit our needs better.”
Taqueria Chingón will be open for another three weeks, leaving just enough time for interested foodies to try one of the best taco spots in Chicago before its hiatus.
