The lineup of events this summer has become quite overcrowded—Sueños, NASCAR, Lollapalooza, to name a few. It’s become so crowded that another beloved summer event is transitioning to fall.
The award-winning “Sundays on State” event series, which features State Street closed from Lake to Madison for electric block parties, is returning to downtown for two Sundays in the fall.
Sundays on State returns this fall
“Sundays on State” will now take place on two Sundays: September 7 and October 5 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. A list of performers includes the Windy City Ramblers, Zion Ali, Fin Talbot, and Chachi Guerrero. The complete list can be found here.

The event, which began in 2021 and is now in its fifth year, features performances and nearly 400 vendors of food, drink, and local shops. During this time, traffic on State Street, from Randolph Street to Jackson Boulevard, is affected.
Chicago Loop Alliance President and CEO Michael Edwards said:
What started as an initiative to support the Loop’s economic recovery post-pandemic has transformed into one of the city’s marquee events.
“Sundays on State” is free and open to the public. However, if you RSVP, you are automatically entered for a chance to win a $1,000 Loop staycation package.
