It’s no secret: concerts can be overwhelming. When you take in consideration all the noise, pungent smells and the insane crowd, it definitely takes a special artist performing to attract us to the typical live performance experience. Luckily, Sofar Sounds isn’t your average concert.
Set to bring intimate live performances to Chicago’s most unexpected locations, Sofar Sounds creates an environment where you can experience music as it should be, free of distractions. What’s more? You won’t know who will be gracing the stage — until the day before the show.
Your Sofar Sounds concert awaits at a secret location on April 26 at 7:30pm!
What is Sofar Sounds?
Sofar Sounds turns everyday spaces into venues for live music shows. Each concert is super intimate, presenting 3 acts — none of which are headliners. The small, cozy atmosphere creates a memorable experience for both you and the artists. It’s the opportunity to connect with the music and the performers in ways you couldn’t at an arena concert. Artists get the chance to express their talent and you get to sit back and enjoy the music, free from the pressures of a larger show.
How does Sofar Sounds work?
Attending a Sofar Sounds concert is a straightforward process: simply choose a show in your area, whether you’re in Chicago or out of home (Sofar hosts events around the globe!), and let the magic unfold. You’ll choose your show based on the neighborhood, but the venue and artists remain a secret until the day of. A few hours before the concert, you’ll receive an email with key info, including whether you’ll be in a private location with outdoor space or in a public venue, whether the spot offers food and drinks, and all accessibility details.
In the case of these special Fever x Sofar Sounds concerts, you get to know the venue beforehand depending on the concert, but the lineup remains as deliciously mysterious as in a typical Sofar performance.
Once you’re at your Sofar concert, you’ll finally discover the lineup — and it could take you for a spin: Billie Eilish and Jack Harlow (to name a few) have performed at Sofar before becoming superstars. After the concert, Sofar Sounds will follow up with an email about the artists you met that evening, so you can follow them on socials and add their tracks to your rotation.
A phenomenal opportunity for new artists
Sofar Sounds serves as a bridge between underrated venues in the city and music lovers, while also providing a platform for emerging artists to share their creativity. Through intimate concerts, Sofar forges an emotional tie between the artist, the location, and the listeners — one that goes beyond social media.
In an interview with Purple Sneakers about Sofar Sounds, Matt Walters, regional director for the company in Australia and New Zealand, shared, “We aim to capture the essence of live music — the connection between the artist and the audience — and bring it to the forefront.” And that’s precisely what they’re doing.
