More snowy weather is on its way to Chicago, with two winter storm systems set to move through the region this weekend.
Snow flakes will begin falling Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service, with an 80% chance of precipitation predicted. Overnight accumulations will remain below an inch for much of Chicago.
Friday is when the snow will begin to pick up with a 100% chance of precipitation before 3pm. The NWS expects additional accumulation of up to 2 inches throughout the day Friday.
Additional snow is possible before 9pm, but the NWS expects the snow to taper off into the evening hours.
But the snow doesn’t stop there. More showers could arrive Sunday night, with a 50% chance of snow before midnight according to the NWS. Flurries could continue into the early morning hours on Monday.
In short, have your shovels and your snow boots ready Chicago, it’s going to be a long cold weekend in the Windy City!
