The first snow of the season has officially arrived in Chicago! Flurries began late Wednesday, intensifying into heavy snowfall by Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Chicago region, effective until 1 p.m. While initial forecasts predicted little to no accumulation, the NWS now expects between 2-4 inches of snow.
Thursday’s snowstorm has been accompanied by strong winds, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, as reduced visibility and slippery conditions could make travel hazardous.
The snow is expected to taper off by the afternoon, turning into cold rain. With temperatures dropping near freezing tonight, icy conditions may develop, so stay prepared Chicago!
