The thrill capital of the Midwest is back with its fourth version of the magical holiday event.
Six Flags Great America’s wonderful “Holiday in the Park” celebration is returning having adopted a totally socially distant format last year. The thrill capital of the Midwest opened in November of 2020 for the first time since the pandemic hit and offered guests a safe experience after the doom and gloom that plagued the last year. Now the cherished tradition is returning to normal on November 26 for its fourth season and will feature over three million dazzling lights to delight guests of all ages.
As one of the top 20 most attended amusement parks in North America, you can bet no small measures have been taken for this year’s light extravaganza. The 300-acre property will feature twinkling holiday light displays spread throughout the grounds, world-class entertainment, and special seasonal treats and surprises.
As well as the magical Elegance Light Show and Kalightoscope Light Show dazzling guests daily from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm there will be holiday-themed photo ops with costumed characters, holiday shopping specials, a Santa’s workshop, cookie decorating, and Roasted Marshmallows & S’mores Galore.
While the more thrilling rides, including coasters, will be hibernating until next Spring there will be several holiday rides transformed for Christmas such as Big Easy Balloons, Bouncer, Chubasco, Columbia Carousel, JUSTICE LEAGUE™: Battle for Metropolis, Red Baron, Up, Up & Away, The Lobster, and THE DARK KNIGHT™ Coaster. More information about these rides can be found here.
Guests can stroll Holiday In The Park on foot, take in breathtaking views of millions of twinkling lights, warm up by a fire pit with marshmallows and sing along to favorite holiday tunes at the spectacular shows from November 26 through December 30.
If you’d rather stay warm inside your car, however, for the second year in a row Six Flags is hosting a drive-through light show experience from December 3 until January 9. The same lights and seasonal music seen and heard during the walkable experience can be enjoyed from inside your vehicle at $14.99 per person.
