Chicagoans enjoyed a mild reprieve this weekend, with highs reaching the low 50s Sunday into Monday. But the unseasonably warm spell won’t be around for long.
The National Weather Service predicts overnight lows will drop to around 30 degrees Monday, with daytime temperatures climbing to a brisk 33 degrees on Tuesday.
By Wednesday, the high will dip further to just 28 degrees, accompanied by the chance of snow flurries throughout the day. Overnight conditions will see a frigid low of only 5 degrees. Time to layer up!
The bitter cold will persist through the work week, but a brief warm-up is expected for the weekend. Forecasts suggest Chicago could see highs in the low 40s by Saturday and Sunday, offering some relief from the icy chill.
