The best things in life are free.
Last year the aquarium continuously treated Illinois residents to free admission days. They then started off 2022 with more of the same inviting visitors in free of charge on numerous dates in January and February to give Chicagoans something to be grateful for during the torrid winter months.
Museum free days usually tend to taper off during the summer months when tourism flourishes but luckily Shedd Aquarium has now decided to treat guests to more free fun. The aquarium announced that both today and tomorrow are now Illinois Resident Free Days!
Summer is here and so are Illinois Resident Free Days! Bring your valid state ID or driver’s license and stay cool with us for FREE on:

The Shedd Aquarium website reads “our Illinois Resident Free Days include access to all open animal and permanent exhibits, our special exhibit Underwater Beauty and seasonal Stingray Touch. Take a deeper look at our current available exhibits here.”
Bear in mind that tickets need to be secured ahead of a visit by booking online at sheddaquarium.org/plan-a-visit or over the phone by calling 312-939-2438. Free entry will not be permitted to guests who walk up without a reservation and when at the aquarium “all adults must provide proof of residency in-person when redeeming tickets at the discounted rate.” This can be a valid state ID or driver’s license with proof of Illinois residence.
