Winter is upon us, and there’s no better cold-weather activity than a trip to Chicago’s largest aquarium.
The Shedd is ringing in 2026 with tons of free days and a festive seasonal event you won’t want to miss!

Shedd Aquarium free days 2026
The Shedd is offering free daytime admission to Illinois residents on multiple dates in January and February in 2026:
- January free days
- 6-8
- 13-20
- 27-29
- February free days
- 3-5
- 10-12
- 17-19
- 24-26
Additionally, the aquarium will offer free evening visits for Illinois residents on the following dates:
- March – 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
- April – 7, 14, 21, 28
- May – 5, 12, 19, 26
- June – 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
Valentine’s Heartbeat House Party at Shedd
Also this winter, Shedd is hosting its first-ever 21+ Heartbeat House Party Valentine’s celebration.
Guests are invited to don their best pink and white outfits and enjoy a full night of live DJ music, dancing, themed bites, and “deep sea surprises”.
