According to multiple weather forecasts, severe thunderstorms will hit Chicago this afternoon and go on into tonight. Strong winds, rain, and thunderstorms are expected to hit the region starting at noon.

Chicago will be hit by strong winds up to 75 MPH, heavy rain, and lightning acting as the primary concern. National Weather Service Chicago noted the weather looks muggy with storms starting in the afternoon and extending to early evening. Other potential hazards include hail along with possible localized flash flooding.

The past few days have been especially warm with the temps hitting close to 90. With the storm possibly lingering until midnight, it holds the potential to clear up overnight, after which temperatures could drop into the mid to low 70s.
