The storms could produce hail and wind gusts up to 75 mph in some spots, according to WGN.
Temperatures will dip to a low of 63 degrees overnight, with cooler air settling in for the weekend.
Storm activity may linger into Friday, with additional showers possible between 4 and 10 p.m.
By Saturday, conditions will stabilize, and temperatures will return to more seasonable levels, topping out near 69 degrees. Expect highs in the low to mid-60s to continue into early next week.
