Chicago is in for another round of severe weather early this week, amid an ongoing bout of oppressive heat.
Thunderstorms and heavy rain is possible Monday, coinciding with soaring temperatures and humidity.
Here’s a breakdown of the forecast and when we could see some relief.
Heat advisory, beach hazard statement in effect as storms hit Chicago
Chicago is currently under multiple weather alerts from the National Weather Service.
A Heat Advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. Monday, with humidity creating a heat index of 102 degrees.
A Beach Hazard Effect will also go into effect early Tuesday through Wednesday morning, due to dangerous current and waves up to 9 feet high.
Additionally, severe storms will impact Chicago beginning Monday afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms are likely until 3 p.m.
The NWS also predicts wind gusts up to 25 mph and a 30% chance of tonight between 7 and 10 p.m.
Now for the good news—conditions will improve drastically come Tuesday, once showers move through the region.
Tuesday will see a high of only 74 degrees with a steep drop in humidity, according to predictions from Accuweather.
