Towns along the last 100 miles of the highway are celebrating the iconic highway’s 100th anniversary. It will be months filled with festivals, concerts, and unique themed products celebrating Route 66.

Kicking off a series of May activities includes a Bigfoot-themed gathering at the Pink Elephant Antique Mall on May 9.
This free, family-friendly event will feature games, an array of vendors, and a Sasquatch Holler Contest set against the backdrop of the century-old building, renowned for its captivating collection of fiberglass giants.
On May 24, the Edwardsville Symphony will honor Route 66 with a concert in the stunning City Park, so attendees can listen to melodic tributes to this legendary highway.
On June 6, Jeep owners and Route 66 enthusiasts will unite for the exhilarating Route 66 Jeep Run. Setting off from the nostalgic Litchfield Skyview Drive-In and concluding at the It’s Electric Neon Sign Park in Granite City. The memorable journey invites participants to register for just $20.66 per Jeep.
On June 5 and 6, Collinsville will host the International Horseradish Festival in the Uptown District. This long-anticipated festival showcases the town’s rich horseradish heritage—and it’s free for everyone to attend.

On June 13, Edwardsville’s annual Route 66 Festival will return to City Park, bringing together live music, a mix of vendors, and a classic car cruise, perfect for those who love music and cars.
Classic car lovers will get their fill of nostalgia when the Hemmings Great Race, presented by Coker Tire, rolls through the region on June 20. This nine-day Route 66-themed rally kicks off in Springfield, Illinois. It includes a stop in Uptown Collinsville, where spectators can marvel at the impressive vintage cars on display.
That same day, Collinsville will host the Catsup Bottle Festival from 2 to 7 p.m. at Old Herald Square, 111 E. Clay St. This free, family-friendly event honors the World’s Tallest Catsup Bottle water tower. There will be live music, exciting food contests, and a variety of engaging activities for all ages.
