The outdoor concert season is just around the corner—well, not for a few more months, but we can’t help counting down the days until June! While many of us are excited about heading to venues like the Salt Shed or Northerly Island, there are several great locations outside the city that truly capture the spirit of a summer filled with outdoor music.
One standout is Aurora’s RiverEdge Park, which has been newly renovated and is set to reopen on June 20 with the city’s annual Blues on the Fox celebration, featuring Trombone Shorty and guitarist Ally Venable.
Aurora’s RiverEdge Park returns this June
RiverEdge Park has an abundance of performances lined up this summer, including concerts by Cheap Trick, the Beach Boys, UB40, and several tribute bands. The park took last summer off for renovations, and this year it has increased its concert capacity from 6,000 to 7,500, expanded lawn seating, and added a new restroom building, a beverage pavilion, and three new jumbotrons.

The summer lineup includes the following events:
- Blues on the Fox Festival featuring Trombone Shorty and Ally Venable on June 20
- Cheap Trick on June 25
- Aurora’s fireworks celebration on July 3
- Lauren Alaina on July 5
- Sixteen Candles on July 17
- Get the Led Out on July 18 – Hollywood Nights: The Bob Seger Experience on July 31
- ’90s Pop Nation on August 8
- UB40 featuring Ali Campbell on August 9
- Gov’t Mule on August 13
- The Beach Boys on August 14
- Poi Dog Pondering on August 15
- the Totally Tubular Festival on August 16 – the Australian Pink Floyd Show on August 21
- Stayin’ Alive on August 29
Tickets for most of the shows are now on sale.
