The panic surrounding the REAL ID has seemed to subside for now, likely because we’re now three months past the deadline. Many people without a REAL ID are probably using their passports for identification.
Yet, now might be the perfect time to obtain your REAL ID finally. The lines are much shorter, and there are plenty of DMV appointments available in Chicago.
Here are the steps to schedule a Real ID Appointment in Chicago
Find a DMV in Chicago and schedule an appointment, or visit the Real ID Supercenter Chicago.
Visit the DMV Appointments section on the Secretary of State website and make an appointment here. Alternatively, you can head to the REAL ID Supercenter in Chicago, located at 191 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60601.
You’ll need to provide the following:
- Proof of Identity
- Proof of Social Security Number
- Two Proofs of Residency
- Proof of Signature
Be sure to note:
- Documents must be valid.
- Only original hard copies are accepted.
- Printed electronic documents can be used (e.g., bank statements)
- All account numbers must be clearly visible
- No photocopies are allowed
