Chicago marks 100 years of electric rail service this month, and the Pullman National Historical Park is celebrating the occasion with the return of its Railroad Days series this weekenc.
The free, family-friendly event will bring two full days of train-themed experiences and activations to the Southside campus.

Railroad Days at Pullman National Historical Park 2026
100 years ago in 1926, the Illinois Central Railroad reached a historic milestone by electrifying its suburban rail service.
The motion ushered in the modern rail era in Chicago and established what would eventually become the Metra Electric Line.
To honor the centennial of high-speed electric rail service, Chicagoans can head to the Pullman National Historic Park this weekend for a fun and educational celebration.
Railroad Days will feature a host of free activities including a STEAM fair with interactive exhibits, miniature trains rides, model train displays, interactive rail demonstrations, and live music.
Ticketed tours will also be available starting at $20.
Guests can choose from the Historic Railcar Tours, which explores vintage railcars throughout history, or a guided walking tour of the Pullman National Historic Park.
