Back in 1874, Roland Barnard built the cottage for just $500. Since then, this historic home has been the only bed and breakfast in Saugatuck recognized on both the State of Michigan and the National Register of Historic Places.

The Belvedere Inn & Restaurant
The Belvedere Inn & Restaurant, one of the few remaining Gilded Age mansions in the Saugatuck area, is located on property initially purchased by wealthy Chicagoans in 1864.
After a fire destroyed the original mansion, it was rebuilt in the Chicago Prairie style of architecture, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and named “Belvedere,” which means “beautiful view” in Italian. The inn sits on six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and an award-winning restaurant.

The Hotel Saugatuck
Built in 1865, the Hotel Saugatuck is the only remaining 19th-century mill in the area. As a Michigan Historic Landmark, it has served various purposes over the years, including as an icehouse, a boat-building factory, and a boarding house.
During the Prohibition era, the hotel was frequented by Al Capone’s gangsters. Today, the Hotel Saugatuck features twelve beautifully appointed guest rooms and private cottages.
