Soak In A 98-Degree Beer Bath At Chicago’s First And Only Beer Spa

Enjoy an afternoon of beer-fueled relaxation bathing in hops, yeast, and herbs.

While many of us out there might be used to drinking our fair share of beer, not many of us can ever claim to have bathed in it. In fact, not many of us would have even thought about it until West Town’s PIVA Beer Spa came along in 2018.

Swearing that soaking in beer can have numerous benefits, PIVA Beer Spa provides a variety of services both beer-related and non-beer related from rejuvenating salt room experiences to luxury massages. It’s the revitalizing beer soaks, however, that we’ve got our eyes on.

The relaxing beer soaks can be experienced through various packages available at PIVA Beer Spa but despite all the options, it’s sinking back into a huge larch wooden tub filled with near 100-degree beer, herbs, and hops for the first time that you’ll remember.

The spa claims that the extracts of hops, barley, and brewer’s yeast can help alleviate various respiratory conditions such as asthma, allergies, and bronchitis whilst also helping to improve numerous ale-ments (sorry), such as restoring damaged skin, revitalizing damaged hair, and helping to clear acne.

Antioxidants found in beer alleviate oxidative damage of cells, lipids, and DNA whilst anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties help make the skin, softer, clearer and more hydrated. Add to that the fact that beer soaks have been shown to be a natural sleep aid, reduce stress, and positively affect mind, body, and spirit, you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll be leaving any beer-soaking experience feeling lager than life (sorry again).

The “piva” in the spa’s name translates to ‘beer’ in many Slavic languages found in eastern Europe where beer soaks are a lot more common.

The transcendental bar soaks can also be combined with other services to create a day of beer-fueled relaxation for singles or couples. A Bronze Package for one person priced at $175 includes access to the steam room and sauna, a beer soak, and then a 30-minute “relaxation room + beer mask” experience.

Silver Packages, Gold Packages, and the Platinum Packages offer even more lavish experiences with a couple’s Platinum Package including 45 minutes of Halotherapyin a salt room, access to the steam room and sauna, a 45-minute beer soak, 30 minutes in the relaxation room, and a 60-minute massage.

More information about services at PIVA Beer Spa can be found here.

Open daily from 11 am to 8 pm, PIVA Beer Spa is located at 1052 N Milwaukee Avenue.
