A new café on Webster Avenue is reimagining traditional iced teas by serving matcha straight from a slushie machine.
Recently opening in Lincoln Park, Paper Tiger is already making waves with its signature drink: the Frozen Matcha Cloud. The drink is designed to appeal even to those who usually steer clear of green tea’s earthy flavor.
Paper Tiger brings a $5.50 bright green frozen matcha machine
The Frozen Matcha Cloud features a sweet and refreshing base that counteracts the bitterness often associated with matcha powder. The icy blend is dispensed from the machine and topped with a thick, creamy foam cloud. And you can order it for just $5.50.
For those looking to enhance the flavor, the café offers an optional strawberry drizzle that adds a bright, fruity finish to the vibrant green slushie.
In addition to the matcha, the café’s specialty drink menu includes unique takes on traditional espresso drinks. A highlight is the Iced Hazelnut Orange Latte, which combines nutty syrups with milk and espresso and is garnished with a freshly expressed orange peel. The citrus oils provide a fragrant contrast to the sweet hazelnut.
Paper Tiger’s remote worker-friendly space
With a relaxed ambiance, it features a long wooden communal table where patrons can set up their laptops under warm paper lantern lighting. Smaller café tables line the walls, adorned with framed photographs, artwork, and a large stylized tiger installation.
