The Forge: Lemont Quarries offers rope courses, zip lines, summer camps, concert series and so much more!
Feel like you need a little taste of the action this summer? Take a short drive down to Lemont, where The Forge: Lemont Quarries just opened. From mountain biking and climbing walls to yoga to a tactical laser tag course, the 300-acre park is packed with everything you can think of with something for everyone!
Lemont Quarries offers an exhilarating mix of extreme sports, outdoor activities, educational programs, and outdoor entertainment features.
Touted as North America’s largest outdoor adventure park, Lemont Quarries features nearly 300 aerial elements for daredevils of all ages. Those include its Eight Towers Adventure — the largest aerial challenge in the country, over two miles of zip lines, climbing walls with numerous routes that vary by difficulty — including a bouldering zone, a mountain biking skills course as well as a pump track.
For those that want excitement here on flat ground, Lemont Quarries offers a hyper-realistic tactical laser tag arena, with over 30 different game styles to choose from. Or, you can opt to participate in their Augmented Reality Escape Rooms, which feature “a mixture of an escape room, scavenger hunt, and location-based adventure rolled into an unforgettable augmented reality experience.”
Is that all? Not even close. There are seven lakes on the grounds of The Forge, which the park encourages guests to kayak, canoe, or pedal boat. Visitors can rent equipment from the park, or bring their own. Beginning in August, Lemont Quarries will also offer a variety of yoga courses lead by a certified instructor.
The Forge also has a massive outdoor stage which it had planned to stage outdoor concerts for up to as many as 1,000 attendants, but due to the pandemic, will hold off on live shows until 2021. That said, the park hopes to begin their Forge Film Series of outdoor-based movies later this summer.
Lastly, the park offers a variety of field trip and team development opportunities.
When in need of refueling, The Forge offers multiple dining experiences. At the heart of the park is The Foundry, “a multi-dimensional, open concept, main dining and gathering place” in Lemont Quarries. Furthermore, the park offers Forgefire Adventure Dining, a campfire-side outdoor dining experience by the quarry available on weekends in August through October.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the coronavirus, the park is taking extra health precautions to keep visitors safe, including timed activities, reduced capacities at certain courses and the climbing wall, thorough disinfecting of equipment, and the the requirement of wearing masks.
