Follow the rainbow(van)!
Last week, The Original Rainbow Cone debuted their brand spanking new van, complete with ice cream paint job. This weekend, the Rainbow van will make its return its Bolingbrook location at Buona Beef.
This year, The Original Rainbow Cone had something special in stock for Taste of Chicago. However, as everyone knows by now, Taste of Chicago didn’t quite happen as planned.
Instead of holding its regular festival, Taste reimagined many of its festivities, which included featuring online demonstrations, a “Community Eats” program, and “Taste To-Go” which featured dozens of restaurants across the City of Chicago — including The Original Rainbow Cone Ice Cream.
While it was not quite the premier that the ice cream parlor had in mind to unveil the big news, The Original Rainbow Cone decided showcase their drippy new ride anyways.
“Follow the rainbow! We’ve had a super secret project in the works and we’re finally ready to share it with our fans,” the company posted on its Instagram account. “Our Original Rainbow Cone Ice Cream Truck will be debuting this weekend at the @BuonaBeef Darien parking lot. We’ll be serving ice cream from 4-9PM Saturday and Saturday. Stop by and say hi!”
After a successful debut, ORC will be returning to the Buona Beef parking lot in Bolingbrook this weekend beginning today (Friday) from 4 – 10 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 2 – 10 pm.
The Original Rainbow Cone has two locations (not on wheels) at 9233 S. Western Avenue and 600 E. Grand Avenue at Navy Pier. Their signature rainbow cone features scoops of chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House, pistachio, and orange flavors stacked on top of a cone. Additionally, ORC offers a myriad of other flavors as well as shakes, sundaes, cakes, and cake rolls!
