Chicagoans dreaming of a white Christmas are in for a disappointment this year, with milder-than-average temperatures and rain predicted.
According to the National Weather Service, Chicago will observe a high around 38 degrees on Christmas Day, almost 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.
The NWS predicts a 20% chance of drizzle and a slight chance of rain in the afternoon, as well as areas of fog.
The warming trend will continue for the remainder of the week in Chicago, with Friday and Saturday seeing highs in the low 50s, well above normal.
Although Christmas in Chicago will be rainy and warm, the Windy City is actually poised to see colder conditions this winter overall.
Spring is still a long ways off, so don’t pack the snow shovels away just yet!
