Chicago’s beloved Museum of Science and Industry has opened a temporary new James Bond exhibit today adding to the wonderful array of exhibitions already taking place across the city.
The new exhibit, titled 007 Science: Inventing the World of James Bond showcases the science and technology behind the world’s longest-running movie franchise. Opened on Thursday, March 7th, it is now the first-ever official exhibition to focus on the world of history’s most famous fictional spy.
Guests are invited to explore the iconic cars, gadgets, and props of the James Bond film series while going behind the scenes to learn how the Bond production teams harness real-world science to craft 007’s on-screen adventures.
There is everything from artifacts like a prototype jetpack from “Thunderball” and the modern Gravity Industries Jet Suit to immersive activities encouraging guests to do everything from design the perfect spy vehicle or (safely) dangle from a steel beam like 007 himself.
A lab space inspired by “Q”—the source of secret field technologies in the Bond movies— will offer guests the opportunity to explore the science behind the spy’s top tech assets while an area to test spy abilities and devise amazing stunts will let visitors see how their own skills compare to that of the world’s most famous spy.
007 Science: Inventing the World of James Bond requires an additional exhibition ticket. It will be open for special exhibit-only evening hours on March 23, 24, 28, and April 5 when the rest of the Museum will be closed.
Visitors also have the option to upgrade their tickets with a 007 Pass on both day and evening visits for an additional $10.
This upgraded ticket includes an untimed express entry to 007 Science along with a branded lanyard pass and commemorative exhibit poster.
