The Chicago culinary community is set to receive two bold new additions this month—Asian fusion restaurant Muhājir and sister cocktail bar Bobo.
Here’s a sneak preview of each spot and everything to know.
Behind the scenes at Muhājir and Bobo

Muhājir is the brainchild of acclaimed Chicago chef Zubair Mohajir.
Mohajir has risen to Chicago culinary stardom for his work with award-winning Indian restaurant Mirra, and appearances on Top Chef and Chopped.
Muhājir represents a “deeply personal” expansion for Mohajir, rooted in a multicultural influences, according to a release.
“For me, Muhājir is about using food as a way to tell stories that are both personal and shared,” said Chef Zubair Mohajir.
“Migration has shaped the way people cook, eat and gather for centuries. This restaurant is about honoring those journeys, breaking bread together and creating space for honest conversation.”
Muhājir will focus on wood-fire cooking, drawing flavor inspiration from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and North Africa.
Menu highlights include a Southeast Indian Goat Biryani and a traditional Asian “Thaali” platter consisting of homemade breads and dips.

Tucked within Muhājir, sister bar Bobo will offer a post-dinner respite for cocktails and conversation.
Craft beverages will combine tropical-inspired fruit fusions like ube, pandan, coconut, rambutan, and banana.
Muhājir and Bobo will open to the public on July 1 and July 8 respectively.
