Magnolia Bakery has been a popular destination for those craving sweets in Chicago. Known for their fresh banana puddings, cupcakes, cookies, and more, they were an easy stop if you were downtown.
However, they have now come to an unfortunate end, and for good reason. The Loop location recently closed after health inspectors discovered serious pest violations during a recent inspection.
Magnolia Bakery remains closed at State and Randolph after failing city health inspection
According to Fox32Chicago, the Chicago Department of Public Health found serious sanitation issues at a bakery at State and Randolph streets, including 13 live cockroaches, numerous dead cockroaches, and an estimated 100 or more small flies in food-preparation and storage areas.
As a result, the city suspended the bakery’s food service license. The establishment will remain closed until all health code violations are addressed and it passes a follow-up inspection.
Magnolia Bakery must complete professional pest control, rectify all violations listed in the inspection report, submit the necessary documentation, and successfully pass a reinspection before it can reopen.
A notice of suspension and a closure sign must remain posted until these requirements are met.
