If you thought it couldn’t get any crazier than Italian Beef pizza, think again. Lou Malnati’s and Portillo’s have unveiled perhaps the most Chicago food creation ever: the Chicago Dog Deep Dish.
“The flavor mashup you didn’t know you wanted”
The wacky food collaboration is just what it sounds like: Lou’s deep dish crust paired with Portillo’s hot dog slices, cheese, relish, onions, tomatoes, and peppers, topped off with poppy seeds and yellow mustard.
“We were inspired by Portillo’s iconic recipe and combined all the traditional Chicago Dog fixings on Lou’s legendary crust” reads Lou Malnati’s site.
The Chi-dog deep dish pie arrives just in time for National Hot Dog Day on Wednesday, July 16, and is available for a limited time at Lou Malnati’s 21 local dine-in locations.
