It’s that time of year again: Lollapalooza weekend in Chicago is just days away! The return of the Windy City’s biggest music festival means the return of major street closures downtown.
The 2025 edition of Lollapalooza will bring closures to some of Chicago’s largest throughways including Michigan Avenue, DuSable Lake Shore Drive, and Roosevelt Road. Here’s what to expect.
Street Closures
- Balbo from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 16th – August 10th
- Jackson, from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 22nd – August 9th
- Balbo, from Michigan to Columbus: July 28th– August 4th
- Jackson, from Michigan to Columbus: July 28th – August 4th
- Columbus, from Monroe to Roosevelt: July 28th – August 4th
- Columbus (Northbound, two center lanes), from 13th Street to Roosevelt: July 28th – August 4th
- Congress Plaza Dr, from Michigan to Columbus: July 28th – August 4th
- Monroe, from Michigan to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 30th– August 4th
Numerous downtown sidewalks will also close to pedestrian traffic for the duration of Lollapalooza. The following streets will be off limits to non-festivalgoers.

- Michigan, from Jackson to 11th St. Bridge: July 29th – August 3rd
- Balbo (both sides), from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 16th – August 10th
- Columbus (Northbound side), from Roosevelt to Ida B Wells: July 16th – August 8th
- Columbus (Southbound side), from 9th St. Yard to S. Ida B. Wells: July 21st – August 9th
- Jackson (both sides), from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 21st – August 9th
- DuSable Lake Shore Drive (Northbound side), from Monroe to Roosevelt: July 23rd
- Monroe (Eastbound side), from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive: July 19th and July 21st – August 9th
- DuSable Lake Shore Drive (Southbound side), from Monroe to Roosevelt: July 26th – August 9th
- Balbo (both sides), from Michigan to Columbus: July 28th – August 4th
- Jackson (both sides), from Michigan to Columbus: July 28th – August 4th
- Congress Plaza Dr, from Michigan to Columbus: July 28th – August 4th
- Congress Plaza Dr. (Westbound & Eastbound side), from Michigan to Columbus: July 26th – July 27th
- Columbus (both sides), from Monroe to Roosevelt: July 28th– August 5th
- DuSable Lake Shore Drive (Northbound side), from Monroe to Roosevelt: August 5th
