Coronavirus put a paws on everything but with the pandamonium and a hisstorical winter almost behind us, reopenings are upon us!
Lincoln Park Zoo is coming out of hibernation this March and will celebrate with its annual Beers & Bears reopening event. The zoo closed at the start of the year due to the second wave of the global pandemic and an expected annual decrease in visitors during the winter months. Now, with a de-escalation of mitigation measures and other cultural centers and hotspots opening up, the beloved North Side zoo has decided to follow suit.
Lincoln Park Zoo will reopen on Friday, March 6, and launch its Beers & Bears fundraiser event on Saturday, March 6. The special celebration will mark the zoo’s reopening with firepits, s’mores, trivia & prizes, and special animal enrichment!
Beers & Bears Celebration Packs are now on sale offering people the chance to be among the first visitors back at the zoo. In addition to admission on Saturday, March 6, celebration packs come with a household ticket to attend an exclusive virtual improv show by The Second City during the evening of Sunday, March 7. They also come with a reusable tote bag, two 32-ounce crowlers from nearby DryHop Brewers, two exclusive pint glasses, two koozies, and a bottle opener.
Reservations for the opening weekend are essential and can be made from 4:30 pm on Sunday, February 28 via the Lincoln Park Zoo website. There will be a limited capacity, a strict mask-wearing policy, and hand sanitizing stations situated throughout the zoo to ensure the safety of all guests, staff, and animals.
There will be two special member-only days this coming weekend February 27-28 when Lincoln Park Zoo members can visit ahead of the public reopening.
