Get ready to set your sights on the sky, because a balloon festival is happening in Illinois this weekend!
Lake Shelbyville’s annual Balloonfest will take place from October 10 to 12, offering three days of hot air balloons and aerial activities.
The beloved festival will feature live music, delicious food, and a variety of fun activities alongside the balloon flights.
The Lake Shelbyville Balloonfest kicks off this Friday at 4 p.m., featuring the inflation of balloons, followed by a short glow as the sun sets, weather permitting.
On Saturday, there will be two events at Shelby County Airport: one in the morning at sunrise and another in the afternoon and evening. Balloons will fly over the airport from 7 to 9 a.m., and the evening event, from 4 to 7 p.m., will feature several different activities, including helicopter rides, a balloon glow and cookout, inflatables, and (weather permitting) tethered balloon rides.
All events are free and open to the public. Helicopter and tethered balloon rides on Saturday evening will incur an additional cost.
