Chicagoans can step into a portal to a magical otherworld this weekend in the heart of downtown.
Laika, the production company behind the smash-hit animated films Coraline (2009) and The Box Trolls (2014) is bringing its latest film “Wildwood” to life for a three-day portal pop-up experience in Chicago.

All about Wildwood from Laika Studios
Wildwood follows the story of plucky teen Prue McKeel and her gang of misfit friends.
Together they embark on a quest to rescue Prue’s baby brother from an enchanted forest realm called Wildwood, outside the boundaries of their Portland, Oregon home.
Along the way, they must fight epic battles, while forming alliances with magical speaking animals and woodland warriors.
The film stars voice actors Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Mahershala Ali, Jacob Trembley, and Amandla Stenberg, among others.
Inside the Wildwood portal pop-up
The Forest is Calling portal experience is making a stop at Pioneer Court along Michigan Avenue from Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 6.
The exclusive pop-up will transport visitors to the magical world of the impassable forest from the upcoming animated film.
The pop-up brings Wildwood to life, engaging fans in an interactive discovery game to determine which forest faction they belong to.
The experience will also include a lush forest display, ambient music, and other immersive features.
Guests will take home a digital photo and special collectible keepsake.
And the best part? Admission to the pop-up is totally free!
