Steamy matza ball soup, lush loaves of challah and mouth-watering knishes, Jeff & Jude’s has it all!
Fans of Jewish Delis rejoice! Jeff & Judes has arrived to satisfy your every (or at least some for the time being) craving for scrumptious Ashkenazi classics! The modern Jewish deli by renowned baker Ursula Siker recently opened its doors in the Ukrainian Village and hopes to eventually fulfill your every craving once Jeff & Judes fully opens. For the time being, the deli offers a rotating menu of pastries and savory options all available for pick-up at the shop.
Although Siker’s deli doesn’t have a set menu yet, patrons can always count on grabbing a gorgeous loave or two of naturally leavened bread. Jeff & Judes offers three different options: country loaf (a standard sourdough), marble rye (with caraway seeds, molasses, and cocoa powder), and challah.
Other options on the menu include Reuben sandwich kits, potato salad, whitefish salad, knishes, matza ball soup and ‘savory hamantaschen’ — a triangular cookie (usually sweet) that’s served for the Jewish holiday of Purim — made with a rye crust and filled with salmon and dill cream cheese. In honor of Siker’s Southern stepmother, Judes, for whom the deli is named, the shop will also be incorporating meat and vegan versions of ‘Papa’s chicken and dumplings.’
Jeff & Judes Jewish Deli is now open at 1024 N. Western Avenue, weekends only. To find out more about what is on their menu, hours for pick up and ways of reserving and paying in advance make sure to check out their Instagram profile from time to time since they’ll be posting all news on there!
