Book lovers, unite. It is officially Independent Bookstore Day this weekend, which means, it’s time to celebrate all the indie bookstores in the area! Take part in a Chicago-based event The Chicagoland Bookstore Crawl this year through Chi Loves Books and the #ChiLovesBooks challenge.
How it works: By making a $25 purchase at a participating store, customers will receive a passport with a list of participating stores. If you visit nine more indie bookstores throughout the day, you can earn a 10% discount at participating shops for an entire year!
Independent Bookstore Day is now a nationwide celebration, but it first started in California a few years ago. Born from wanting to promote the small locally owned bookstores in the area, now, more than 400 stores participate in all 50 states, creating a day filled with fun programs, entertainment, author singings, and community togetherness.
The American Booksellers Association has named New York Times bestselling author Angie Thomas as the official 2022 spokesperson for Independent Bookstore Day. Get your TBR piles ready, because there are so many incredible bookstores participating!
The full list of Independent Bookstores includes upwards of 40+ different shops! Get the list of Chicago-based bookstores here, and take part in the #ChiLovesBooks event with all participating bookstores here.
Support on social media by using the hashtags #IndieBookstoreDay #ChiLovesBooks and more.
