Chicago’s new Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit has officially opened in Old Town’s historic three-story Germania Club.
The interactive experience is the first of its kind in the U.S. fusing high-tech installations and state-of-the-art soundscape with the Dutch painter’s revolutionary masterpieces.
The 35-foot walls of the Victorian landmark’s Lighthouse ArtSpace Chicago are now adorned with flawless digital projections that offer an art experience like no other.
Surrounded by famous works like Irises, The Bedroom in Arles, and Starry Night, guests can take an hour-long journey through the kaleidoscopic displays and submerge themselves in the elegance of Van Gogh’s creativity whilst unraveling his tormented mind.
Designed and conceived by Massimiliano Siccardi and Luca Longobardi, who pioneered the exhibition’s Parisian precursor, guests are invited to “step inside” Van Gogh’s iconic creations.
Rather than playing the passive spectator, Chicago’s new Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit gives you the chance to walk through the memories of the eccentric genius and be galvanized by the passion behind every laden brushstroke.
Scintillating blends of electronic and classical compositions accompany the magnified ridges of his art and evince the changing emotional states he experienced in his life.
Through multimedia and imagination, the experience transcends the typical museum adventure, surpassing any dimensional approach to art, and provides a different take on the artist who gave us another lens with which to view the world.
Plus, it’s safe to Gogh! Extensive health and safety protocols guarantee a safe and exhilarating experience. As well as temperature checks, a reduced capacity, obligatory face coverings, and touchless hand sanitization stations, there are circular floor markings throughout the exhibition space to ensure six-foot social distancing.
Having opened on Thursday, February 11, 2021, the previously planned dates have now been extended due to popular demand. The exhibition will now stay open 7 days a week from 9 am – 10 pm through Labor Day, September 6, 2021.
