Chicagoans and Harry Potter fans were delighted this Tuesday morning by an unexpected, sweet surprise—giant jelly beans floating along the Chicago River! And just to clarify, this is not an April Fools’ joke.
As part of an April Fools’ Day stunt, giant Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans are now floating beneath the Michigan Avenue Bridge. For those who may not know, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans are from the Harry Potter Series. The candy is something every Hogwarts student has tried. It comes in a variety of flavors, ranging from appetizing (cherry and lemon) to bizarre (vomit and grass).
This Harry Potter jelly bean pop-up is meant to give Chicagoans a taste of the magic that will be coming to Water Tower Place next week when the official Harry Potter Shop opens.
You can visit the Chicago River Walk today and sample a handful of quirky Bertie Bott bean flavors. There will be some more enjoyable than others, obviously.
How long will the jelly bean pop-up be at the Chicago River?
Just for today!
When does the Harry Potter Store open?
The Harry Potter Store opens on April 10 at 676 N. Michigan Ave. The store will feature themed areas, exclusive merchandise, props, and a Butterbeer Bar.
