It’s true: Chicagoans love their hotdogs, and an iconic local spot is making sure you can enjoy a free bite to eat before every home game!
Guthries Tavern, located a few blocks west of Wrigley Field, has officially opened its patio for the season, and to celebrate the return of baseball season, is giving away free hotdogs for every home game!
That’s right! The new owner has decided to offer Cubs fans a free bite to eat before fueling up for the big game. If there’s one thing we can trust, it’s a steady supply of hotdogs and beer on game day with the tavern offering a $6 Miller Lite Stadium Cup Drafts special.
Sure, Chicago is replete with taprooms and breweries galore, but there’s something special about Guthrie’s Tavern, a well-known board game-centric bar that’s been around since 1986. It’s located near the stadium and came back stronger after it was sold to a new owner in 2021.
Since then, the new owners have maintained its beloved facade and interior including the creative ceiling tiles, alongside small updates in lighting, tiling, and an expanded menu.
For now, free hotdogs are available until they run out, with an early opening at 11 a.m. for all afternoon games.
After shutting down in 2020, the longstanding tavern is back and better than ever, offering a gigantic stash of board games to choose from, making it a local favorite thanks to its laid-back atmosphere.
With 100 mostly Chicago-founded beers to choose from along with an expanded bourbon, scotch, cocktails, and wine selection, the tavern has undergone some changes but kept its iconic wooden paneling.
Guthries Tavern is always open Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 a.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m.
