Attention White Sox fans! It’s almost time to hop on the Red Line and head to your favorite ballpark on the South Side!
Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait another week (sigh), as they are currently playing against the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend. After that, they will head to Miami before returning to Chicago.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the White Sox’s Opening Day.
When is the White Sox’s Opening Day?
Opening Day is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 3:10 p.m. at Rate Field, where the White Sox will face the Toronto Blue Jays.
Are there any giveaways?
Yes! On Opening Day, there will be a team-themed t-shirt giveaway, but it’s limited to the first 20,000 fans who arrive early.

What time do the gates open?
Gates will open 90 minutes before the first pitch on Opening Day.
How to get to Rate Field
If you’re taking the CTA, the Red Line provides direct service to Rate Field, with an accessible station at Sox/35th, or you can also use the 35th/Bronzeville/IIT Green Line stop. If you’re taking Metra, use the 35th Street “Lou” Jones Metra/Rock Island stop.
What is the bag policy at Rate Field?
Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and should not exceed the dimensions of 12” by 12” by 6” (e.g., clear tote bags, one-gallon plastic freezer bags like Ziploc bags, etc.). Small non-clear clutch bags measuring 9” by 5” by 2” or smaller are also permitted, with or without a handle or strap.
