Music is universal, and what better way to celebrate than by hearing award-winning artists from around the world perform? It’s all possible at the World Music Festival. Presented by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, the citywide, multi-venue festival features over 30 artists and ensembles. In total, the festival represents 22 countries and regions from around the world. Starting today September 30th, and going on until October 9th, experience an array of live performances at stunning venues across the city.
This year, celebrate 10 years of Ragamala– the most extensive all-night presentation of live Indian classical music in the United States. Starting tonight, September 30th, the event goes from 6 PM to 9 AM at the Chicago Cultural Center. Admission is free. Head to Preston Bradley Hall (78 E. The annual festival, now in its 22nd year, will also showcase additional dazzling performers in venues across the city. The free, and engaging event includes musical performances, along with the return of the Global Peace Picnic in Humboldt Park on Saturday, October 1st. Held at the Humboldt Park Boathouse (1301 N. Sacramento Ave., Chicago, IL 60622) from 1 to 7:30 PM, come together for great food and see eight incredible bands, like Tamburica Haus Bend, Bazurto All Stars, and more perform live!
There’s even a late-night 21+ show at Martyrs’ (3855 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, IL 60613). Doors open at 9 PM, with bands La Chica, Beats y Bateria, and DJ Fanita Banana performing live starting at 10 PM.
