The Drive-In Theater In Gibson City Is Now Screening Movies

It’s over an hour away, but in this social distancing age, it’s worth it!

Theaters will remain close for the time-being, but if you want a taste of the lights, camera, action, you might consider take a little road trip out to the Harvest Moon Twin Drive-In theater in Gibson City!

Home to the $2 bill giveaway and “the best drive-in food in the Midwest”, the Harvest Moon Drive-In Theater in Gibson City, Illinois, is Chicago cinephiles best option for an in-person screening of motion picture films.

Due to the circumstances, the theater is only open to 75% capacity — half on each screen — and has made some additional requirements when purchasing tickets.

These include, but are not limited to, purchasing pre-sale tickets which closes for sale at 5 pm the night of the screening. After following the link through their big red ticket on the website’s home screen, you must select (Car + Driver) or (Front Row Car + Driver) ticket types.

Harvest Moon also requires that you order a ticket for everyone in the vehicle as well as a ‘Food Permit’ ticket if you choose to snack as you watch the show. The rest of the ticket ordering instructions can be found on their website.

All parking except ‘Front Row’ is first come first served.

Harvest Moon is currently screening beloved animated movies, Shrek and Despicable Me. 

The theater is touted as having the best drive-in food in the midwest. See for yourself at their Snack Bar, open every night, with a menu featuring all your staple cinema bites like popcorn, caramel corn, nachos, hotdogs, and more. Or, on Friday and Saturday nights only, order from their Burger Barn, which features burgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes, cheese fries, and an assortment of other enticing treats!

All presale tickets must be redeemed at the theater 1 hour before showtime on weekends and a half hour before screenings Sunday through Thursday nights.
