Fat Tuesday is less than a week away, marking the final—and biggest—day of the Mardi Gras season. While you may not be flying out to New Orleans from Chicago for the biggest party in the U.S. (and if you are, we’re extremely jealous), there are some exciting events happening in the city to keep the good times rolling. One Chicago steakhouse is bringing a taste of New Orleans to the city.

The best of New Orleans is coming to Chicago
Hawksmoor Chicago will host two of New Orleans’ most celebrated cocktail institutions—Cure and Jewel of the South—for a one-night-only takeover as part of the Tales on Tour series.
On Tuesday, February 24, starting at 5, guests are invited to experience the spirit of New Orleans with world-class cocktails at Hawksmoor’s signature Beef & Liberty Bar.
The evening will feature Neal Bodenheimer and Chris Hannah, prominent architects of New Orleans’ contemporary cocktail renaissance.
Cure was founded by Neal Bodenheimer in 2009, transforming a historic firehouse on Freret Street into one of the most influential cocktail bars in the United States. The bar is widely credited with leading the modern cocktail revival in New Orleans and has received a James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar Program. Additionally, it has been recognized as America’s Best Bar by Food & Wine and is a regular presence on North America’s 50 Best Bars list.

Chris Hannah, one of the world’s most respected bartenders and a leading authority on classic New Orleans cocktails, spent 14 years at the helm of the legendary French 75 Bar at Arnaud’s before co-founding Jewel of the South.
Located in a restored 19th-century Creole cottage in the French Quarter, Jewel of the South is celebrated for its refined, historically grounded approach to cocktails and has received accolades on national and international best bar lists, including being named Best Restaurant Bar by Liquor.com.
The night will feature complimentary passed appetizers and bar bites, with special cocktails available for purchase. If you’re feeling like keeping the night going, make sure to stay for dinner!
