Go glamping at this beautiful outpost in Michigan, and break away from screens and city clamor!
Despite all of Chicago’s charm and character, even the most loyal among us need a break from the urban monotony every once in a while. Living in a busy city can at times become exhausting and we all need time to unplug ourselves from screens and technology, breathe fresh air and reconnect with nature.
If you can relate and city living has gotten a bit intense, or you’re just looking to get lost in the wild and enjoy the company of those who matter most, we may have just found the perfect spot for you!
Getaway House is a chain of tiny cabin hideaways helping people in big, bustling cities like Chicago, DC, LA and NYC, disconnect from their busy city lives with restorative stays in the middle of nature.
Nestled in Grand Junction, Michigan, Getaway House’s stunning midwestern cabins are just a couple of hours away towards the beachside town of South Haven on the shores of Lake Michigan.
With 29 cabins with queens beds and 10 cabins with queen-sized bunks spread out over 79-acres of beautiful forest, they are perfect for both romantic escapes and family adventures. Guests can enjoy their own tiny spot in nature, away from other cabins yet not completely isolated in the wild. There’s also no need for a dog sitter because furry four-legged friends are also welcome!
In addition to at least 50’-150’ between cabins, there’s an easy self-check-in and check-out process without a front desk so no need for in-person interaction with site staff or anybody else.
Getaway’s tiny luxury cabins aren’t just like other cabins – they’re straight out of any millennial’s dreams! They fully embrace the minimalistic lifestyle and all cabins feature floor-to-ceiling windows so you can wake up immersed in the wilderness.
All cabins come with comfy queen beds, fresh linens, kitchenettes equipped with stoves and fridges, a bathroom with a hot shower, AC, and heating. Meanwhile, each cabin has its own picnic furniture and a private campfire pit with a grill grate. There’s also a lockbox that encourages guests to put away their devices and concentrate on the natural surroundings.
Pots, pans, and other provisions are up for purchase if you don’t feel like bringing your own and biodegradable soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided.
If you feel like exploring, the Michigan outpost offers plenty of activities for venturing out of the campsite, including the scenic Kal-Haven Trail just 18 minutes from the cabins.
South Haven Farmer’s Market and the South Haven Light, a historic and beautiful red lighthouse at the entrance to Black River on Lake Michigan, are also under 20 minutes away.
For those who plan on coming during hotter seasons, North Beach offers the chance to enjoy a relaxing day on the shores of Lake Michigan with the waves, playgrounds, and snack bar to entertain the little ones.
