Chicago is in the midst of its first snow of the season, with blizzard-like conditions and freezing temperatures making it feel more like late January than early November.
The white stuff began falling heavily late last night and as of Monday morning, there’s no sign of it stopping. Here’s a timeline of the first snow and how much accumulation we’ll see.
Winter Weather Advisory in effect

Chicago is under a Winter Weather Advisory until noon Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow showers will continue until that time, slowly tapering off around 1 p.m., with a total accumulation of up to 3 inches possible.
Temperatures will hover around the freezing mark with high of 35 degrees and an overnight low of 29 degrees.
The potential for snow will linger into Veterans Day, with additional showers possible early Tuesday. Temps will reach a high of 42 degrees before falling to a low of 38 overnight.
Fall comeback later this week

Come Wednesday, fall-like weather will make a comeback with clear skies and a high of 48 degrees.
Thursday’s high will reach 51 degrees, and by the weekend daily highs will climb to the upper 50s and low 60s.
So hang in there Chicago—we may be getting a premature dose of winter right now, but autumn isn’t over just yet!
