The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory as strong gusts and blowing snow create hazardous conditions throughout the region.

Windy Advisory in effect until 12 p.m.

The Wind Advisory will remain in effect until 12 p.m. Monday, according to the NWS, with a strong northwest wind between 20 and 30 mph expected. Winds could reach has high as 45 mph in some places.
Intermittent periods of snow are possible until 11am, with the chance for additional flurries in the afternoon.
Monday’s high will top out at just 24 degrees, before plunging to a 16 degree low overnight.

Here’s some tips for staying safe and driving with caution according to AAA:
- Avoid driving if possible and only go out if absolutely necessary.
- If you must drive somewhere, drive slowly and with extra caution.
- Adjust your speed to make up for lower traction when driving over snow and ice.
- Be sure to accelerate and decelerate slowly, applying the gas cautiously to avoid the risk of skidding.
- Increase your following distance to 5-6 seconds to allow for additional brake time.
