Chicago is starting the new year off on a warmer note—following a prolonged period of sub-freezing temps, the Windy City is set for a weather warm-up this week!
Here’s a breakdown of the forecast and how long the balmy conditions will last.
Rainy, high of 50 degrees Thursday
Temperatures will reach a high of 40 degrees Monday, according to the National Weather Service, with wind gusts up to 10 mph and partly sunny skies.

Come Tuesday, things will take a turn for the rainier and warmer, with a high of 41 degrees and drizzly conditions throughout the day.
We’ll get a brief reprieve from the rain on Wednesday and a high of 46 degrees, but the clear skies won’t last long.
Thursday will see additional rainfall, mostly in the afternoon, and a toasty high of 50 degrees. Friday will bring more rain and a high of 46 degrees.
Weekend temperature drop, chance of snow

By the weekend, the weather-warm up will officially draw to a close, as temperatures return to a more seasonable high of 36 degrees Saturday.
Saturday night could bring the chance for some snowfall as the thermostat drops to a low of 23 degrees. Sunday skies will clear and temps will top out at 31 degrees.
In short, we’ll get a couple days of spring-like weather this week—be sure to enjoy it while you can, however, because winter in Chicago is far from over.
